ABOUT HARALD LASSEN
So - before we start; I´ve done so many things. And yes, I´ve played with a handful of jazz celebs. And yes, I grow up in a musical family. And yes, I´ve won a couple of "best"-awards - really stupid though.
Most important to say about me is that..
....what can I say -
well, I don't concider my self as saxophonist. More like a musician. Yeah, it's a bit cheesy.
I like feelings. I´m full of them.
But check out my ongoing projects below! Speaking of: sometimes on stage I can without any warning be very touched(yes, tears!) by the thought of music as a concept. Us standing on a stage somewhere communicating only via instruments for 1,5 hours without saying one word. It sounds so abstract, but feels so real! A very "out of your body"-experience. Fellowship in music. Its a cliche. I like clichés.

Jazz with a capital J is back! Bandleader Harald Lassen is conquering the world with his new band Lassen including Belgian hot shot pianist Bram de Looze (LABtrio) and a Norwegian rhythm section reminiscent of the seventies jazz heyday - Tore Flatjord (drums) & Stian Andersen(bass). The outfit playes colorful, passionate and catchy jazz, inspired by 70s and life so far. Common for all four musicians is the love of good melodies, the importance of jazz history paid with an unmatched need to explore
A band that despite short existence already played for a packed Ronnie Scott’s in London and was booked to Norway’s biggest festivals in 2017, represented Norway at Jazzahead 2018 and are releasing debut album on Jazzland Recordings September 2018.

For ten years Harald Lassen and bass player Christian Meaas Svendsen have been playing together in DUPLEX. It may look like a duo, but it doesn´t necessarily sound like a duo. They´ve over the years developed a wide range of expressions and and quite innovative techniques to use the small format sax and bass is. It´s
MATONA AFDHAL GROUP
Traditional taraab music from Zanzibar with influences from jazz, arabic and folk music.
The Afdhal group consists of hand picked jazz musicians from Norway, a country in which our player and lead singer Matona has close musical bonds. Using Africas best kept secret, the beautiful Taarab music of Zanzibar, as a platform, the group explores the harmonic, melodic and rythmic possibilities it offers. Anchored in a proud tradition, but always exploring, twisting and turning, the result is truly unique
